Viktor Arvidsson Finding His Groove.
Viktor Arvidsson has been quietly one of the most consistent players for the Nashville Predators. Arvidsson currently is second on the Predators in points only trailing Ryan Johansen by one point. In the past five games Arvidsson has six points with points in each game. The small Swede is starting to find his way in the league but the path there wasn’t easy.
After a strong season for Skelleftea of the SHL, where he scored 40 points in 50 games, he was drafted 112th overall by the Predators in the 2014 NHL Draft. The next year he was playing for the Milwaukee Admirals where he had an impressive 55 points in 70 games as a rookie in the AHL. During the 2015-2016 season Arvidsson mostly played for the Predators where he had eight goals and eight assists in 56 games. In the 17 games he played in the AHL he had 18 points. This season he has finally taken the next step in his development. He is translating his skill to the NHL level. He proved he had the skill in the SHL, AHL, and now has shown his worth to the Predators.
Arvidsson should also be showing fantasy owners that he is more than worth a look. Arvidsson has gained the trust of head coach Peter Laviolette and is currently on the top line with Ryan Johansen and James Neal. He is producing all while playing very little power play time. He is currently averaging about 1:20 of power play time for the Preds. That is 13th for Predators players. When Arvidsson gains a larger role on the power play we could see his points increase. Arvidsson has 2.19 points per 60 minutes played which is good for 42nd in the NHL. He’s a shot machine too, with almost 13 shots per 60 minutes played. That’s 2nd in the NHL only behind Patric Hornqvist.
Viktor is quickly rising up dynasty rankings. Dynasty owners should take notice. With his duel eligibility as a LW and RW it should make Arvidsson a valuable asset. It’s unlikely Arvidsson is a free agent in your leagues but if he is grab him right away. Those who own him should hold on to him. Arvidsson is solidifying himself in the Predators top six and becoming a very reliable fantasy asset.
