Defenseman Sami Niku. The Winnipeg prospect is having a strong rookie season in the American Hockey League. He was drafted in the 7th round (198th overall) back in the 2015 NHL Draft. After playing a few seasons in the top division; Liiga of the Finish league, he has made a smooth transition to the Manitoba Moose. Niku’s production offensively is a big reason why Manitoba is in 1st place in the Central Division. The Moose have scored 204 goals thus far, leading the Western Conference. Niku himself has 12 goals and 31 assists though 60 games played. He’s also +12, with 26 penalty minutes, and has hit the net 105 times so far this year. If you’re in a deeper league, he’s worth the stash on your bench.
